I was there on August 7th 2009 and dropped by to have a look myself. This is it.

It probably looks different now because The Neil Simon Plays have come and gone since that date.

Ditto.

Hmmm. Maybe there's a curse on the Nederlander and no show will run there for a long time again!! I mean, Guys And Dolls flopped, BBM closed after 1 week...

But probably not. I'm just exhausted.

The inside of the theatre still looks and feels like the Neder to me. Of course, everything is painted and refurbed, but I can see the mirrors on the walls, hear the bathroom lady (though the bathrooms are much nicer), and see where the merchandise stand was when I walk in. Sigh - I know it had to happen, but I have to say, it's weird seeing anything but Rent in that theatre!

I have to admit that I peek down 41st everytime I walk by.

I agree. I live in Pennsylvania and I go to New York every 2 months usually to see a show. It takes about 2 hours by bus for me. I've been there several times since it closed and I usually sit across the street and just look at it. I looked in the windows last time and I sat on the ground in front of it. It reminded me so much of my lotto days when I would sit on the ground making friends with other RENT fans.

I knew the day would come....I'm still hoping for a revival in a few years. Maybe if were lucky at the nederlander.

I'm not sure how it could be revived anywhere BUT the Nederlander. That place is so integral to the heart and soul of that show. And seeing the RENT sign when I'd come around the corner out of Port Authority was one of my favorite things about visiting New York.

I really wish I could see pictures of the inside. What happened to the wall outside? I know it's probably been discussed a lot. I thought I remember them saying they were covering it?

So finding the Neder was the first thing I ever did by myself years ago. LOL - I was so proud of finding my way 3 streets down. Wink

I think the wall was left the way it was. At least that is what I last heard.

I'll be doing the same thing when I'm back there. The guy's and dolls board looks odd in front of the Neder. Oh well, life goes on. But hopefully one day, RENT'll come back home.

Thanks for posting! The grey doors look so blah. They should really paint them the same colour as the main doors. Or do something fun with them like it used to be.

I work in the neighborhood, so I pass by often and I get a little sad every single time.
